Presence Film
The acclaimed director tests his creative boundaries in this innovative supernatural story filmed completely from the viewpoint of the phantom. When a household featuring mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their new suburban house, the camera – as the unseen entity – follows them around. The teen shows signs of sensing the supernatural presence, and the entity appears defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema

The Black Phone
The director's contained scarefest stands strong even without a continuation. Taking place in 1978 Denver, a series of kidnappings has rendered the children anxious. After Finney gets captured by the villain and held captive in a basement, he dreads a terrible outcome. Yet the disconnected phone mounted nearby repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices offering help, as the prescient dreams of Gwen, his sister may be his salvation. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, late evening, the Film4 channel
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's delightfully tacky biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher and her criminal husband. Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who declares early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye set about capitalizing on the nation's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, overdone appearance and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain succeeds to present the real-life figure in a likable light. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
