The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
